Flossing your teeth at least once a day is essential to proper oral health. When you shop for floss, however, it is easy to get overwhelmed. There are numerous products, including floss, floss picks, and other gadgets that make you wonder what you should be using.
The first thing to know is that the technique that you use is what is most important. Any tool that allows you to effectively get in between each tooth is what you should be using. If you prefer minty floss because of its taste and ease of getting in between each tooth, then that is what you should use. If you do not like the taste of mint, there are also unflavored options for dental floss.
The same is true for floss picks. If you have a hard time getting in between your teeth, whether due to decreased flexibility or you have a dental appliance in your mouth, floss picks might be beneficial. If they allow you to get in between your teeth and around your dental appliance, then you should use them.
Some patients use a combination of both because floss picks are sometimes hard to use in the teeth in the very back of your mouth. The basic rule is to use whatever works the best for you. Every patient has a different level of flexibility and ability to what they can stand. As long as you are removing the bacteria from in between your teeth every day, you are doing it right!
Our patients come back to us because we truly care about the care you receieve. Here are some of the things our amazing patients have to say about us:
The staff are super friendly and made me feel really comfortable. I had to get implants for two "baby" teeth i still had left b/c i never grew permanent teeth in their place. I had to be sedated for the operation and expected to be out of commission for a couples days and in a lot of pain the following week. However, that evening I felt surprisingly good with minimal pain.
Dr. Myers is the best. I have been a patient of his for about 5 years and every time I come he makes me feel super relaxed and at ease. I have had everything from a simple cleaning to crowns and everything is virtually painless afterwards. I would recommend him to any person who is seeking a great dentist and staff.
