How You Can Sanitize Your ToothbrushThe first option for sanitizing your toothbrush is putting the brush into your dishwasher. This is great if you have a standard toothbrush. If yours is electric or battery powered, make sure you only put the brush head into the dishwasher. Run it through a cycle once per week and you will be good to go.
Another option is to put your toothbrush in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Again, only the brush head if your is powered. After just a few minutes, any germs on the brush will be dead and you will be good to go. Do this once per week, more if you are sick or often get sick.
Finally, you can douse your toothbrush in anti-bacterial mouthwash after each brushing. If you put the head of your toothbrush into a jar (or cup) of fresh mouthwash, it kills the bacteria so each time you brush, it's sanitary.
If you want more ideas on how to keep your toothbrush clean, talk with your dentist. They know how to keep your toothbrush, and the rest of your mouth, healthy. Ask them the next time you are in their office for a cleaning or procedure. They will give you their ideas and you can implement those options, too.
