Is It a Major Problem to Miss Visits With Us Now and Again?
Posted on 3/20/2019 by Jolie
You've probably heard (likely from us!) that you need to come in for a checkup and a cleaning every six months. There are a number of reasons for this, especially if you have a history of poor oral health.
So, is it a problem if you don't make your six-month checkup? It can be. Here are a few reasons why these visits are so important.
Your Teeth Need a Professional Cleaning
No matter how well you brush and floss, you're likely to miss some parts of your mouth each time you do. That can lead to the buildup of bacteria and plaque in very hard to reach places. A professional cleaning will remove all of these bacteria, reducing your risk of cavities and gum disease. If you don't see us regularly, you're giving bacteria the opportunity needed to grow and damage your mouth.
We Can Catch Oral Health Issues Sooner
Six months is the right amount of time for oral health issues to be easy to detect yet still not advanced enough to be a complicated, severe problem. It's the perfect amount of time for your overall oral health to start showing signs of disease and other issues. If you miss a checkup and don't come in until a year has gone by, some issues may have become quite severe and require more advanced or invasive options.
It's Okay to Reschedule We understand that life happens and that sometimes you simply can't make your scheduled checkup. That's perfectly fine, but please try to reschedule your appointment. Even if you're not able to come in around the six-month mark, try to come in the next month.
It's important that we check your teeth, gums, and mouth for signs of illness and that we clean your teeth regularly. Don't have a checkup scheduled? Call us today to get one on the calendar.
Our patients come back to us because we truly care about the care you receieve. Here are some of the things our amazing patients have to say about us:
The staff are super friendly and made me feel really comfortable. I had to get implants for two "baby" teeth i still had left b/c i never grew permanent teeth in their place. I had to be sedated for the operation and expected to be out of commission for a couples days and in a lot of pain the following week. However, that evening I felt surprisingly good with minimal pain.
Dr. Myers is the best. I have been a patient of his for about 5 years and every time I come he makes me feel super relaxed and at ease. I have had everything from a simple cleaning to crowns and everything is virtually painless afterwards. I would recommend him to any person who is seeking a great dentist and staff.
